What we do

Complete home improvements, under one roof

Six core services — and because the building, electrical and plumbing work is all ours, there’s no waiting on someone else’s diary.

Kitchens

Design, supply and full fit — including the walls, wiring and pipework behind them.

Bathrooms

From a straight swap to a full re-plan, wet rooms and en-suites included.

Extensions

Single and two-storey, knock-throughs and garage conversions, managed end to end.

Landscaping

Patios, paving, raised beds, fencing and garden rooms to finish the job off properly.

Electrics

Rewires, consumer units, lighting design and testing — carried out by our own electricians.

Plumbing & heating

Pipework, radiators, boiler moves and full bathroom first-fix, all in-house.

We also take on full refurbishments — whole-house renovations, rental and buy-to-let properties, and homes being brought up to standard before sale — and we still fit windows and doors, which is where the business started more than twenty years ago. Commercial fit-outs and refurbishments sit alongside our domestic work too. If it’s one of those you’re after, get in touch and we’ll talk it through.

what makes us different

Why Homeowners Choose BTW Group

BTW Group started life as Building the Way, and both names still get used — the letters simply stand for what was on the first van. Most people who call us have had a bad experience with a builder before, or they’ve heard enough stories to be cautious. That’s fair enough. Here’s how we work.

One contractor, not five

Building, electrics and plumbing are all handled in-house. That means no gaps in the schedule while you wait for a sparky to become available, and no one pointing at somebody else when something isn’t right. If there’s a problem, it’s ours.

Quotes you can actually read

Every quote is itemised, so you can see what each part of the job costs and where there’s room to adjust. If something changes mid-project, we tell you what it means for the price before we do it — not afterwards.

A project manager, not just a team

Every job gets someone responsible for the schedule, the trades and the sequencing. You get one number to ring, and one person who knows the answer.

Twenty years in the same area

Building the Way started out fitting windows and doors, and grew from there into kitchens, bathrooms, extensions and full refurbishments. Most of our work now comes from people who’ve used us before, or been recommended by someone who has. That only works if you do the job properly.

Further afield

Not Sure If You’re In Our Area?

We also work more widely across Hampshire, Surrey and Berkshire, and we’ll happily travel further for the right project.

If you’re not sure whether you’re in our area, just ask — the worst we’ll say is that we’re not the right fit.

Our Process

How It Works

1

A conversation

Tell us what you’re thinking. We’ll come out, take a look, and be straight with you about what’s realistic — including if what you want isn’t the best use of your money.

2

A detailed quote

You’ll get an itemised quote covering materials, labour and timescales. No lump sums, no vague allowances.

3

The work

One team, one schedule, one point of contact. We keep the site tidy and we tell you where things are up to.

4

Sign-off

We walk the finished job with you and sort anything that isn’t right before we call it done.

For Kitchen and Bathroom Designers

You win the client. We do the build.

If you design kitchens or bathrooms and would rather not carry the installation side, we work alongside design companies across Hampshire, Surrey and Berkshire. You keep the client relationship and the design. We turn up, build it to your drawings, and leave it right.

  • We work to your spec, not our preferences — if it’s on the drawing, that’s what gets built

  • One team for the whole fit — joinery, tiling, electrics and plumbing, so there’s no chain of subcontractors to chase

  • Fixed, itemised pricing per project, so you can quote your client with confidence

  • You get the credit for the design — every project we photograph names the designer or company who designed and led it

  • Coverage across Hampshire, Surrey and Berkshire, and further for the right project

FAQ’s

Common Questions

The things people usually want to know before they pick up the phone. If yours isn’t here, just ask — we’d rather answer it now than have you guess.

Still not sure about something? Ask us directly — there’s no obligation and we won’t chase you.

It depends on size, specification and how much needs moving. A straightforward bathroom replacement sits at the lower end; a kitchen with structural changes and high-end finishes sits considerably higher. We’d rather give you a real number after seeing the space than an estimate over the phone that turns out to be wrong. Quotes are free and there’s no obligation.

Many single storey rear extensions fall under permitted development, but it depends on your property, its size and whether you’re in a conservation area. We’ll tell you where you stand at the first visit and point you in the right direction if a formal application is needed.

A bathroom is typically one to two weeks, a kitchen two to three, and an extension several months depending on scope. You’ll get realistic timescales in writing with your quote — and we’d rather quote honestly than promise something we can’t hold to.

Yes. Both are done in-house, which is why our schedules tend to hold better than jobs relying on a chain of subcontractors.

Our regular patch is Fleet, Farnham and the surrounding towns, but we do travel further for larger projects. Ask us — the worst we’ll say is that we’re not the right fit.

Let’s Talk About Your Project

Whether you’ve got detailed drawings or just a rough idea, we’re happy to come out, take a look and give you a straight answer on what it would take. Quotes are free and there’s no pressure either way.
